序  言

本精览为研读旧约圣经提供了相当实际的指导。书中以全面的视角综览旧约，又指出旧约和新约的关系，极大地引发了读者对经文本身的兴趣。

许多人认为旧约圣经是由三十九个零散的文学单元组成，詹逊却在本书一再强调，旧约是一个整体，记录了从人类受造到基督将要降临的历史。这一思路透过书中有关历史、地理的内容中呈现出来，极富启发性。除此之外，作者又列出丰富的参考书目，供有心作深入研究的读者参考。

本书提供了多种研经法，必定可以帮助读者全面地了解旧约圣经。无论是个人研经，或是小组查经，本书均能使读者灵命长进，知识增加。

但愿各位读者透过阅读这本书亲手挖掘圣经中的宝藏，以致作者的写作初衷可以实现。

前  言

本书的主导思想是引领读者自行研读圣经。许多时候，人们研读新约时只阅读别人的心得，却不肯自己花时间读圣经。本书的目的是要引发读者综览新约经卷，找出各卷的中心思想。为方便读者明白各卷的重点主题，书中列出一些参考资料（如大纲）；但是，这些资料仅供协助读者个人研究，方便大家在遇到艰涩难解的经文时不致兴味索然；最后，读者还要自行研究，不要总是靠赖别人帮助。

本书的另一目的是叫读者明白新约各卷的信息结构。若要全面了解圣经，除了知道神说过什么以外，还须了解他为什么这样说；因此本书采用大量图表，务求将各卷圣经的结构剖析得清清楚楚。

研究圣经重点主题的人，由于不必仔细分析经文，往往忽略应用这一步骤。本书的另一目的就是帮助读者反省，把经文重点主题应用于生活。我们的目的是反省和应用。无论是哪一种研经法，读者都应以此为最终目标。

除此以外，本书又提供其他重要补充材料。以下为本书各章的分段法。

一、读前准备

这是每章的第一部分内容，目的是要读者在综览某卷书前先做好准备。它可以使读者产生研读兴趣，触发他们的学习动机，因此颇为重要。

二、背景

各卷书都是在特定的时空写成，各有不同背景。这一部分就是背景讨论，其中许多资料都不是经文本身所蕴含的。我们会反复提及重要的事项，以加深读者的印象。

三、综览

这是全书的主干，也是最需要下功夫的地方。第二章将详论综览法，提出综览新约各卷的几个步骤。

四、重点主题

综览全卷书以后，就该讨论书中重点主题。学术问题与圣经难题都不属综览范围，因而不在讨论之列；而书中的评论，则可以作为综览后的总结，提供建议以便日后进一步研究之用。

五、钥字钥节

有些字句和经节显然与该卷书主题相关。我们会在书中约略提及，盼望读者自行发掘和补充。

六、应用

本段利用问题启发读者把新约圣经的教训应用于个人日常生活上。

七、复习题

一个有效的学习程序是透过回答复习题目来重温所学习到的内容。本段所提供的问题，是关于综览部分的重要资料及新约书卷的背景，其中并不包括重点主题部分的问题。

八、进阶习作

本段是给有心仔细研读该卷书重点主题的人参考，不属综览范围。

九、选读书目

选读书目共分三类：导论、注释、主题研究。以保守派及福音派书籍为主（余者注明）。

盼望这部分综览指南能使大家在阅读旧约圣经时被它的魅力深深吸引并从中得到启迪。那些喜爱阅读圣经之人所得着的应许是极为宝贵的。诗人说，这样的基督徒“要像一棵树，栽在溪水旁，按时侯结果子，叶子也不枯干。凡他所做的尽都顺利”（诗1:3）。
